Notes

  • The hour requirements are counted from the previous promotion or the date the student started Aikido training. Only one hour per day is counted toward the testing requirements.
  • The test requirements at all levels are at the discretion of the examining instructor; additional techniques are commonly requested on higher-level tests.
  • Where the test requirements indicate that a technique is to be performed two or more ways, omote and ura of the same form count as one way.
  • Tests for 6th through 3rd kyu are administered at the dojo as part of regular classes. Tests for 2nd kyu and higher are administered at seminars and regional testing sessions several times a year, at Aikido Center of Atlanta and elsewhere.
  • The United States Aikido Federation certificate fee is $35 for all kyu ranks. For 6th kyu, USAF membership for the rest of the year is included in the $35 fee. Students testing for ranks above 6th kyu must be current members of the Federation; the USAF membership fee is $35 per year and is due each January.
